Welcome to Highland Howl!  We currently have 2 puppies still available from our most recent litter of 17 (both are red females).  All of the puppies are AKC registered and come from champion bloodlines.   The puppies come to you with all of thier current vaccinations and have been vet checked for a health guarantee.  The puppies are now 11 weeks old and are going fast!

Bloodhounds are known to be one of the most compassionate and loving of all of the dog breeds. Bloodhounds are a very powerful and massive hound with long drooping ears and loose, wrinkled skin. They are loyal, kind, and patient, and are an excellent pet for children. Despite what you might see on a television show, Bloodhounds can be full of energy- especially as puppies- and needs lots of room to romp around and play. With thier mild-mannered temperment they are not typically the best guard dogs, but will certainly let you know with that distiguishable howl if someone is coming into the yard! If you are interested in a bloodhound you need to be prepared for just how thick-headed a bloodhound can be. They are very determined and willful and require consistent and gentle training to acheive obedience. Bloodhounds have a tendency to howl, snore, and drool a lot. They may sniff inappropriately or wander off on the trail of an interesting scent. Bloodhounds are able to follow any scent, even human - a rare ability in a dog. This breed has been said to successfully follow trails up to 3 months old. They are so determined that they have been known to stay with the trail for over 100 miles. The Bloodhound is such a sure tracker that the breed is used worldwide for rescue and criminal searches. The Bloodhound's evidence is admissible in the court of law, and one Bloodhound brought about 600 criminal arrests and convictions. There are various colorations that are allowed by the AKC.
